Expeditions
Our expeditions
Ecuador is not a bike park. It's bigger, rougher, steeper and far less predictable. Beyond marked lines, the Andes open into volcanic descents and mountain routes shaped by elevation, weather, geography and the communities that move through them. Gravity Lines was built to ride that side of Ecuador.

Ecuador

Signature Riding Zones
Built around riding zones, not fixed trail checklists
01 — 08
Quito / Casitagua
01The Quito riding zone introduces riders to Andean terrain without leaving the capital's mountain context. Casitagua combines loose dirt, dry-forest terrain, changing grip and fluid downhill riding above the city, making it a strong opening stage for acclimatization, bike setup and first contact with Ecuadorian trail conditions.
Best for: First riding day, acclimatization, dry-forest terrain, city-to-mountain context, opening rhythm.
Cotopaxi Area
02The Cotopaxi area brings riders into Ecuador's volcanic highlands, with open landscapes, loose surfaces, wind, altitude and the scale of one of the country's most iconic mountains. Riding here depends heavily on weather, access and park conditions, but when aligned, the zone adds powerful high-Andean context to a central Ecuador expedition.
Best for: Volcanic terrain, high-Andean scale, access-dependent riding, central Andes progression.
Mamarumi
03Mamarumi is one of Ecuador's most meaningful historic Andean descents. More than a trail, it is a long mountain route shaped by geography, local movement and the transition between highland and subtropical environments. For riders, it offers length, physical depth, changing terrain and one of the most memorable ecosystem transitions in the country.
Best for: Historic routes, long descents, highland-to-subtropical transition, physical riding days.
Chimborazo / Hieleros
04The Chimborazo and Hieleros zone delivers one of the strongest high-altitude riding experiences in Ecuador. Starting around 4,800 meters / 15,750 feet, Hieleros moves through raw páramo, volcanic surfaces, open mountain terrain and landscapes historically connected to ice harvesters and highland communities. This is serious high-mountain riding, shaped by altitude, weather and scale.
Best for: High-altitude riding, volcanic terrain, páramo, serious mountain conditions, expedition-defining stages.
Ibarra / Yahuarcocha
05Ibarra and Yahuarcocha function as a key northern base for Gravity Lines. The area gives direct access to dry mountain riding zones, local trail networks, valley landscapes and shorter transitions between riding areas. Compared with the central volcanic highlands, the north offers a warmer, drier and more compact riding rhythm.
Best for: Northern base logistics, dry terrain access, local trail networks, compact trip flow.
El Brutal
06El Brutal is a full mountain traverse and one of the most complete riding experiences in the northern Andes. The route connects páramo, cloud forest, bamboo corridors, agricultural terrain, dry forest and arid Chota landscapes in a single line. It combines major descent, endurance, ecosystem change and long mountain movement.
Best for: Multi-ecosystem traverse riding, long mountain days, endurance, major descent, landscape transition.
Chota Valley Lines
07The Chota Valley is the dry riding core of northern Ecuador. Its terrain is warmer, looser and more expressive, with natural flowlines, ridgelines, rough texture, linked turns and major vertical drop. Lines such as Chota 2500 and Chota 5000 Patagonia can create a strong riding day built around dry terrain, rhythm and technical variation.
Best for: Dry northern flow, loose dirt, natural lines, expressive descents, Chota Valley terrain.
Northern Andean Local Lines
08Beyond the main signature routes, northern Ecuador offers a flexible network of local riding zones that may include areas such as Aloburo, Pimampiro, Mariano Acosta, La Esperanza, Gallo Rumi / Dos de Todo and other selected Andean lines. These routes are used to adapt private rides and custom expeditions according to rider level, weather, trail condition, access and available time.
Best for: Custom routing, private full-day rides, flexible terrain selection, route adaptation.
